Davies Scores, Danielsen Makes Seven Saves As Hofstra Ties Stony Brook

Hempstead, NY - Millie Davies had the Hofstra goal and freshman keeper Synne Danielsen made a season-high seven saves as the Pride played to a 1-1 Coastal Athletic Association draw against Stony Brook Sunday at Captains Field.

Hofstra is 4-2-6 overall and 2-1-2 in the CAA with the six draws extending the Pride's single season record. The Seawolves moved to 7-3-3 overall and 2-1-2 in league action.

Davies opened the scoring 15:13 into the game as Dagny Run Petursdottir sent a ball into the box that was one-touched by Ellie Gough back to Davies, who sent a left-footed rocket past Nicolette Pasquarella for a 1-0 lead.

Danielsen and the Hofstra defense kept Stony Brook off the board until the final minute of the opening half when Linn Beck scored her fifth of the season off a pass from Lucianna Setteducate with 49 seconds remaining in the first stanza.

That would be all the scoring, though Stony  Brook pressured the Pride throughout the second half with 13 shots. Danielsen was able to stop all four that found their way through, while the Pride defense came up with several blocks as well.

Hofstra returns to action Thursday night at Northeastern with a 6 p.m. start time.
