Thorhallsdottir Nets Goal And Assist In Win At Northeastern

Hempstead, NY - Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir scored the game-winning goal and added an assist as Hofstra picked up a 2-1 road Coastal Athletic Association win at Northeastern Thursday at Parsons Field. The victory snapped a string of two consecutive draws and extended the Pride's unbeaten streak to four (2-0-2).

Hofstra moved to 5-2-6 overall and 3-1-2 in the CAA, while Northeastern is 0-8-6 overall and 0-3-3 in league play.

Following a scoreless first half, the Pride broke through first as Thorhallsdottir sent a beautiful cross to the back post that Mathilde Braithwaite got a foot on for a 1-0 lead at the 52:30 mark. The goal was Braithwaite's fourth of the season. The lead lasted just about four minutes as Jessie Hunt knotted things up with her third goal of the season with Sofie Fox and Maggie Cochran notching assists.

Thorhallsdottir would break the tie at the 67:28 mark when she volleyed Sasha McTiffin's long pass into the box past Northeastern keeper Sophie Theresia Augustin. It was the third goal of the season for the Pride junior and her second game-winner.

Freshman keeper Synne Danielsen made two saves for the Pride, both in the second half. Augustin had six saves for the Huskies.
