Hempstead, NY - Senior libero
Chiara Cucco eched her name in program lore once again as the fourth-year player tied the program record for digs in a match with 41 in the Pride's 3-2 loss to Delaware on Saturday afternoon at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.
Cucco tied the mark originally set by Lena Malinowski on November 20, 1994 and tied by Catherine Durakis on November 6, 2005.
It is the most digs in the CAA this season and the fifth-most in NCAA Division I this year. In addition, it is the most by a CAA player since Towson's Anna Holehouse had 45 against James Madison in 2017.
Hofstra dropped to 13-7 overall and 9-2 with the loss. The defeat ended the Pride's nine-match win streak. Delaware improved to 12-6 and 8-3 in conference action. Set scores were 23-25, 21-25, 27-25, 25-23, and 16-14 in favor of the Blue Hens.
