Moschitta Scores First Career Goal In Loss At Elon

Elon, NC - Hofstra freshman Hailey Moschitta scored her first collegiate goal, but Ashlee Brehio's goal lifted CAA-leading Elon to a 2-1 victory over the Pride Thursday night at Rudd Field. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak and a five-game unbeaten streak for the Pride.

Hofstra slipped to 6-3-6 overall and 4-2-2 in the CAA with the loss. The Phoenix moved to 11-2-1 overall and 6-2-0 in league play.

Gabby Hoschek put Elon on the board first with a goal at the 25:17 mark. Moschitta would tie the game at 42:40 as she made a run to the back post and knocked in a precision pass from Millie Davies.

The score remained tied until the 71:22 mark when Jess Beck dribbled deep into the box before sliding a pass to Brehio, who tapped a left-footed shot past Hofstra keeper Synne Danielsen for what proved to be the game-winner.

Danielsen finished with a pair of saves for the Pride, one in each half. Elon keeper Katie Bisgrove made two first half saves.

Hofstra returns to action Sunday at 12 p.m. at William & Mary.
