Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will host Charleston on Thursday at 7 p.m. in a battle of the top two teams in the league standings from a season ago. 

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Hofstra finished the difficult non-conference portion of its schedule with a 7-6 record after dropping a narrow 84-79 decision to St. John's on December 30 at UBS Arena. Tyler Thomas had 24 points and nine rebounds in the game, while Darlinstone Dubar added 23 points for the Pride. That duo has been tremendous for Hofstra all season with Thomas leading the way with 22.2 points per game and Dubar second on the squad with 18.2 points per outing. Jaquan Carlos is third with 10.6 points per game and leads the way with 6.8 assists per outing. 

Charleston enters Thursday's encounter with a 9-4 record after most recently earning a 96-59 victory over Montreat on December 29. Ben Burnham had 19 points for the Cougars in the contest. Burnham leads Charleston with 13.7 points per game this season. 

Hofstra is 10-8 all-time against Charleston in a series that began during the 2013-14 season. The Pride has won four of the last five and six of the last eight meetings between the teams. In the lone meeting a season ago, the Pride defeated the #18 Cougars, 85-81, in Charleston to earn its third-ever win over an Associated Press ranked opponent and snapping Charleston's 20-game win streak.
