Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University's student-athletes put forth an outstanding academic performance during the Fall 2023 semester, compiling a combined 3.48 overall grade point average. It is the 23rd consecutive semester with a combined GPA above 3.00. In addition, all 21 of Hofstra's athletic programs compiled a grade point average of 3.15 or higher.
"Our 393Â Hofstra student-athletes remain committed to practicing championship behaviors in the classroom," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "It is inspiring to witness their efforts on a daily basis and to see such great results. As always, we thank our academic support team and appreciate their part in our student-athlete's success." Â
The men's tennis team led the department with a 3.67 grade point average during the Fall 2023 semester. The women's tennis program posted a 3.62 GPA during the semester with the women's lacrosse team third at 3.61. The men's indoor and outdoor track teams were right behind with a 3.60 semester GPA. Â
A total of 22 student-athletes earned Provost's List honors for compiling a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while 169 were selected to the Dean's List for a grade point average above 3.50. The women's lacrosse and women's soccer programs led all teams with four Provost's List honorees each, while the men's lacrosse team had a department-best 22 Dean's List student-athletes.Â
Hofstra student-athletes have a dedicated staff at the Fried Center for Student-Athlete Development in James C. Metzger Hall who guide each student-athlete to success from the time of enrollment at Hofstra University to graduation. The Fried Center provides space for private study, computer labs, and a private conferencing area for tutoring and mentoring appointments.
