Hanover, NH - A trio of Pride players reached double figures in kills as the Hofstra volleyball overcame a slow start en route to a four-set win over Stonehill on Friday afternoon at Leede Arena on the campus of Dartmouth College.
Yagmur Cinel led the way with 13 kills in the match, while
Clara Bal had 12 and
Izadora Stedile tallied 11. Bal had her 12 kills on 21 attempts with no errors for a .571 attack percentage.
The win moved the Pride's record to 8-1 on the season, while Stonehill dropped to 0-9 in 2023. Set scores were 21-25, 25-20, 25-15, and 25-14.
After a slow start to the match it was all systems go for Hofstra. The Pride hit a pedestrian .161 in the first set but would follow that up with three straight sets of hitting percentages above .300. In the third set, Hofstra hit at a .571 clip and finished off the match with a .450 attack percentage in the fourth set.
Beatriz Alves posted 41 assists, seven digs, four blocks, three service aces, and a pair of kills in the contest.
Chiara Cucco led Hofstra with 10 digs.
Georgia Murphy had 11 kills for Stonehill, which also got nine digs from Kristen DeLorenzo.
Hofstra will play a pair of matches tomorrow at the Dartmouth Invitational. The Pride will take on Seton Hall at 12:30 p.m. and Dartmouth at 6:30 p.m.

- Today marked the first-ever meeting between the programs.
- It was Cinel's fourth match this season in double figures in kills, Bal's seventh, and Stedile's third.
- Alves led Hofstra in blocks for the first time this season.
