Hofstra Falls 1-0 To William & Mary

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University women's soccer team saw its seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end Thursday night with a 1-0 loss to William & Mary in a Coastal Athletic Association game at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The Tribe scored a first-half goal and then withstood a second half push by the Pride.

Hofstra slipped to 7-3-1 on the season and 4-1-1 in the CAA with the loss, its first since August 25 at Columbia. William & Mary remains undefeated at 7-0-5 overall and 4-0-2 in league play.

The Tribe's Jillian O'Toole scored the only goal of the game as the took a pass from Lindsay Wilson and sent a shot from outside the 18-yard box in for the first goal of her career.

The Pride had chances to score as well. Earlier in the first half, Hofstra had a long free kick that bounced in the box and over the head of keeper Zoe Doughty. The ball appeared to be heading in for a score before defender Ginny Delacruz cleared the ball off the line. Hofstra also had a great chance late in the second half as Sasha McTiffin rocketed a shot past a charging Doughty that hit the right post and caromed out of bounds.

Hofstra controlled second half play and took 11 shots, including the final seven of the game. But Doughty stopped all four shots on goal. The Pride's Skylar Kuzmich made two saves.

The Pride will close out the short two-game homestand Sunday with a 1 p.m. game against Northeastern.
