Hofstra Gets Past Drexel, Extends Win Streak To Four

Hempstead, NY - Millie Davies had two goals and Aimee Hodgson had one as red-hot Hofstra edged Drexel, 3-2, Thursday night in a Coastal Athletic Association game at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The win was Hofstra's fourth in a row.

The Pride moved to 5-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in CAA play with the victory. Drexel dropped to 4-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league action.

Hofstra got on the board at the 16:02 mark as Davies netted her first with assists to Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir and Wiktoria Fronc. Fronc passed to Thorhallsdottir on the right side end line and her cross was sent in by Davies. The Dragons would tie the score a little over 12 minutes later as Annalena O'Reilly converted on a penalty kick. Neither team would score in the first half as the opening 45 minutes ended with a 1-1 score.

Davies would break the tie early in the second half with a 30-yard free kick into the upper right corner at 48:39. Hodgson would give the Pride a two-goal cushion nearly 20 minutes later as she sent in a free kick from about the same spot as Davies, this one a low dipping shot that went off a diving Drexel keeper Joella Chase.

The goal proved to be the difference as Isabel Kuzy ran down a header from Meg Tate and sent a shot past Hofstra keeper Skylar Kuzmich with 15:50 remaining. The Dragons could not net the equalizer as the Pride held on for the win.

Kuzmich finished with four saves for the Pride, while Chase made just one for the Dragons.

Hofstra will look to keep the win streak going Sunday when it travels to Long Island and CAA-rival Stony Brook for a 2 p.m. game.
