Hempstead, NY - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2023 Scholar-Athletes and the Hofstra University men's tennis programs placed eight student-athletes on the squad. The Pride also earned ITA All-Academic Team honors. This marked the 12th consecutive year that the program earned ITA All-Academic Team status.
Bo Cautaerts, Matthew Garcia, Ostap Kovalenko, Jonathan Mahrt Guyou, Hideki Matsuoka, Kaita Odani, Josh Reynolds, and Vincent Turina were the eight men's student-athletes to earn the award. Kovalenko has earned the honor four times in his career, while Cautaerts, Garcia, Mahrt Guyou, Odani, Reynolds, and Turina each picked up their second ITA Scholar-Athlete nod of their Hofstra careers.Â

A total of 959Â Division I men's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 162 men's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction in 2023.Â
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors a player must meet the following criteria: 1) be a varsity letter winner, 2) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3) been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
