Hofstra Athletics Hall Of Fame And Golf Outing A Great Success

The Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023
Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics held its 2023 Hall of Fame Induction and Golf Outing, presented by Compass Group USA, June 26 at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor, New York. The event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the athletics program, with all proceeds going to benefit the student-athlete experience at Hofstra as we "Build Champions In Academics, Athletics, Community, and Life". It was an incredible day celebrating Hofstra Athletics with both the golf outing and the induction ceremony sold out. 

In addition to a great day of golf, Hofstra Athletics celebrated the outstanding careers and accomplishments of Willie Colon (football), Olivia Galati (softball), Doni Jantzen (Homenick) (field hockey), Tom Ryan (wrestling coach), and Vinnie Sombrotto (men's lacrosse) by inducting them into the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame in front of a standing room only audience.

"The Hall of Fame Induction and Golf Outing will always be a special day for Hofstra Athletics," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "A beautiful day on the golf course with friends and supporters of our program, followed by an evening of celebrating the accomplishments of our all-time greats with the Hall of Fame induction ceremony is the definition of a perfect day."
 
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductions and day of golf, the event also included raffle prizes, a silent auction, and golf competition awards. Jason Savarese and Jen Mone won the long drive competition, while Doug Hayden (Hole 5), Mike Fee (Hole 8), Kevin O'Reilly (Hole 11), and J.P. Sanchez (Hole 14) won the closest to the pin competitions. The winning team, with a score of 16-under par, was Jeff Froccaro, Joey Froccaro, Jake Froccaro, and Tyler Grimes.
