Hoops Hysteria; Hofstra To Face Duke In Highly-Anticipated Match-Up

| By:
Hempstead, NY - One of the most anticipated games in program history will occur this December as the Hofstra men's basketball team will travel to perennial national power Duke on December 12.

This will be the first-ever match-up between Hofstra and Duke in men's basketball.

"We understand the significance of playing an opponent like Duke and know our Hofstra community will be excited about this upcoming contest," commented Hofstra University Head Men's Basketball Coach Speedy Claxton. "We will continue to put together a very challenging schedule and this certainly aligns with our program's mentality. What an exciting time to start announcing our upcoming schedule!"

Hofstra is coming off a 2022-23 campaign in which the Pride went 25-10 overall (16-2 CAA), captured the regular season Colonial Athletic Association title, and advanced to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament after defeating Rutgers in the first round. The Pride welcomes back nine returnees including three starters in Tyler Thomas (16.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg), Darlinstone Dubar (10.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg), and Jaquan Carlos (6.7 ppg, 4.8 apg).

Duke was 27-9 in 2022-23, won the Atlantic Coast Conference title, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils are five-time national champions and are a preseason top-five team in the nation for 2023-24 by a multitude of media outlets already.

Broadcast information for this game will be announced at a future date.
