2023 Campaign Comes To a Close

Stony Brook, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse team dropped its season finale to Stony Brook, 18-6, on Friday evening at LaValle Stadium. 

Hofstra ends its season with an overall record of 4-12 and a Colonial Athletic Association mark of 1-6. Stony Brook improved to 12-3 and 7-0 in conference action. 

Lauren Coletti scored the game's first goal at the 13:20 mark to give the Pride the early advantage. The Seawolves would score three straight goals to open up a 3-1 advantage before Megan Flannery tallied a goal with 7:23 left in the first quarter to make it a one-goal game. SBU broke the game open with six straight goals before Chloe Sedlar ended the run with a free-position goal with 4:49 left before halftime. 

Sedlar would score again to open the second stanza to bring the Pride within seven. Hofstra's final goal of the contest would come with 13:08 showing on the fourth quarter clock as Taylor Mennella found the back of the net off an assist from Katie Kelly

Coletti and Sedlar both tallied two goals in the game, while Mennella (1G, 1A) and Kelly (2A) each contributed a pair of points. Jackie Gatti had two caused turnovers for the Pride, while Megan Flannery had three draw controls and a goal. Luchianna Cardello made eight saves in net for Hofstra. 

Ellie Masera had nine points (5G, 4A), along with 10 draw controls, five caused turnovers, and two ground balls for Stony Brook. 

NOTES
- Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 7-5. 
- The two goals by Sedlar were a career-high. She had two goals in her career coming into today. 
- Trinity Reed had a career-high two draw controls.
