Ferreira And Rogers Learn NCAA Seeding And Matchups

Hempstead, NY - The NCAA Wrestling committee released the brackets for the 2023 Division I Wrestling Championships this evening with seeding and first round matchups. Hofstra's two NCAA qualifiers - Jacob Ferreira (184 pounds) and Trey Rogers (197 pounds) - are seeded No. 28 and No. 29, respectively, at their weight classes.

Ferreira, who earned an at-large selection, enters the NCAA Championships with a 22-11 record. The sixth-place finisher at the EIWA Championships will face the No. 5 seed, Marcus Coleman from Iowa State. Coleman, an All-American last season and a five-time NCAA qualifier, was the runner-up at the Big 12 Championships and enters the NCAA Championships with a 19-3 record.

Rogers, an automatic qualifier after placing fifth at the EIWA Championships, goes into the NCAA Championships with a record of 22-5. The Hofstra senior is making his second NCAA appearance and will face the No. 4 seed, Ethan Laird of Rider, in the first round. Laird, a four-time NCAA qualifier, won the Mid-American Conference championship and owns a 24-1 record.

The NCAA Championships get underway March 16 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
