Tyler Thomas tallied a game-high 23 points and the Pride scored the game's first 10 points en route to a dominating 86-57 road victory for the Hofstra men's basketball team over Monmouth on Saturday afternoon at OceanFirst Bank Center. The win was Hofstra's seventh straight.
Hofstra improved to 19-8 and 12-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play, staying atop the league standings. Monmouth, which came into the game having won four straight, fell to 5-21 and 4-9 in the league.
Hofstra continued its tremendous play on the road in conference play as the Pride has now won 11 of its last 12 and 13 of its last 15 road Colonial Athletic Association contests.
It was all Hofstra from the start as the Pride scored the first 10 points of the contest to jump out to the early lead.
Darlinstone Dubar led the way during the game-opening run with six of the 10, which included Monmouth calling an early timeout. The Hawks made it a six-point game at 12-6 with 12:12 showing on the clock before the Pride scored the game's next 16 points to open up a commanding 28-6 lead with 7:41 left in the half.
German Plotnikov had a three-pointer during the run and the game-changing run culminated with another basket from Plotnikov. The lead would not get under 16 the rest of the half and Hofstra took a 21-point advantage into the locker room.
Back-to-back baskets from
Aaron Estrada and Thomas put the Pride ahead 42-18 early in the second, their largest lead of the game and ending any sort of suspense in the outcome. Leading by 21 (63-42) at the 9:29 mark, Hofstra's lead ballooned to 32 as they used a 13-2 run and led 76-44 following a basket from Dubar.
Dubar was second on the team with 14 points, while
Aaron Estrada added 13 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
Jaquan Carlos had another solid outing for the Pride with six points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
Andrew Ball had 11 points for Monmouth, while Klemen Vuga added 10.

- Hofstra leads the all-time series with Monmouth, 8-6. The Pride, which swept the season series, has won seven consecutive games in the series.
- The win streak is the longest since an eight-game streak from January 25-February 22, 2020.
- With his 13 points in the game, Estrada now has 1,072 in his Hofstra career to move into 35th place in program history. He passed Derrick Flowers (1,069 from 1987-91) and Darius Burton (1,060 from 1993-97).
- Hofstra improved to 96-19 over the past nine seasons when holding its opponent under 70 points and 45-1 (and 41 consecutive wins) when holding its opponent under 60 points.
