McTiffin Scores Twice As Hofstra Downs Hampton

Norfolk, VA - Freshman Sasha McTiffin scored two goals and Olivia Pearse added one as Hofstra picked up a 4-1 Coastal Athletic Association victory over Hampton Thursday at Powhatan Field. The win was Hofstra's second in a row.

The Pride moved to 9-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in CAA play. Hampton dropped to 0-14-0 overall and 0-8-0 in league play.

Pearse opened the scoring at the 13:20 mark, converting a pass from Mathilde Braithwaite for a 1-0 lead. Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir got in on the scoring six minutes later as she knocked in a pass from Louise Hayden. Hofstra would take a 3-0 lead at 57:21 as McTiffin, who was making her first start, teamed with Thorhallsdottir for her first goal of the game. 

Hampton would break through at 78:47 as Patricia Wharton scored for the Pirates, her first goal of the season. However, McTiffin was not finished as she completed the brace at 88:27 off a pass from Wiktoria Fronc. 

Hampton keeper Alexis Deveaux made nine saves, while the Hofstra trio of Skylar Kuzmich (33:33), Mackenzie Sullivan (41:45), and Avery Holden (14:42) did not record a save as the Pirates only had one shot in the game. 

Hofstra will have a week between games as the Pride returns to action next Thursday night against Elon. Game time at Hofstra Soccer Stadium is 7 p.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra is 2-0 all-time against Hampton.
-McTiffin now has three goals on the season.
-Pearse's goal was her third.
-Fronc notched her team-best fourth assist of the season, while Braithwaite and Thorhallsdottir each picked up their third helper. 
-Hayden's assist was her first of the season.
