Hodgson's Brace Leads Hofstra To 10th Win Of Season

Hempstead, NY - Aimee Hodgson scored both Hofstra goals and the Pride defense held Elon without a shot on goals in a 2-0 Coastal Athletic Association victory Thursday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The victory was Hofstra's third in a row and 10th of the season.

Hofstra moved to 10-3-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the CAA with the win, while Elon slipped to 2-8-4 overall and 1-6-2 in conference action.

Hodgson's first goal, at the 23:44 mark, came when an Elon defender cleared the ball out of the 18-yard box. The ball came to her and she lofted a right-footed shot into the upper right corner from approximately 21-yards out. The sophomore midfielder completed her first career brace at 79:57 when she scored on a penalty kick. The shot towards the left side of the goal was touched by Elon keeper McKenna Dalfonso but caromed off her and in for the score.

Elon did have chances, with seven shots on the night. However, the Hofstra defense cut off shooting lanes and prevented clean shots at the Hofstra net. As a result, Pride keeper Skylar Kuzmich did not record a save in notching her fourth shutout of the season.

Hofstra will remain home for its final regular season game at Hofstra Soccer Stadium, hosting Delaware Sunday at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the Pride will hold senior day ceremonies for Lousie Hayden, Avery Holden, Kuzmich, Allison Mendes, and Cailey Welch.
