Hofstra Blanks Delaware For Fourth Straight Win; Takes Over First Place In CAA

Hempstead, NY - Mathilde Braithwaite scored for Hofstra 3:21 into the second half and the Hofstra defense limited the Blue Hens to four shots in a 1-0 Coastal Athletic Association victory Sunday at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The Pride moved into first place in the CAA standings with the win coupled with Towson's loss to Northeastern.

The Pride improved to 11-3-1 overall and 8-1-1 in the CAA with their fourth consecutive win. Delaware slipped to 4-6-7 overall and 1-4-6 in league play. 

The Hofstra goal came shortly into the second half when Wiktoria Fronc sent a pass to Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir on the left wing. The sophomore midfielder sent a cross to the far post where a diving Braithwaite headed it inside the left post for her second goal of the season. 

The Blue Hens had just one shot on goal in the final 45 minutes with Skylar Kuzmich collecting three saves on the day. Delaware keeper Kyla Burns made three saves as well.

Hofstra will be back in action Thursday night on the road at Monmouth. Game time is 6 p.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra is 24-7-2 all-time versus Delaware.
-Thorhallsdottir (4) and Fronc (5) were credited with assists on Braithwaite's goal.
-Hofstra took 13 shots in the game.
-The Pride celebrated graduating seniors Avery Holden, Louise Hayden, Skylar Kuzmich, Allison Mendes, and Cailey Welch prior to the game. 
-Kuzmich recorded her 30th career shutout in the win.
