Larsson Scores Twice as Hofstra Falls to Yale

Hempstead, NY – Cami Larsson scored a pair of second half goals for the Pride, but it was Yale who came away with a 3-2 win over the Hofstra field hockey team on a sunny Sunday afternoon from Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. The Pride slips to 1-3 on the season, and Yale improves to 1-1.

Trailing 2-0 early in the third quarter, Fede Schroder launched a hopeful ball into the Yale defensive end, and Adrianna Losiak collected the pass before driving into the shooting arc. She hugged the endline before crossing to a waiting Larsson, who redirected the ball into goal nearly two minutes into the quarter. Larsson's second tally of the afternoon came with 21 seconds left in the contest as the Pride trailed, 3-1. Teresa Karoff inserted the ball on a penalty corner to Lieke Gorsse, and Larsson fired through traffic and into the net.

Lily Ramsey scored Yale's first goal of the contest after she collected a loose ball in front of net following a defensive save by Hofstra in the first quarter. The Bulldogs added to their lead with a tally off a penalty stroke in the second quarter by Theodora Dillman. Late in the fourth quarter, after Hofstra pulled goalie Pieke Roos for an extra attacker, Ashley Kim hit Ramsey with a long pass into the Hofstra circle, and Ramsey converted for the goal with 2:16 left on the clock.

Roos earned the first start of her career and made two saves for the Pride. Larsson led all Hofstra players with two shots on goal, and she tied with Gabriela Espinoza and Cami Valor for the team-lead for total shots with two each.

Yale's Luanna Summer made one save to earn the win for the Bulldogs. Ramsey led the visitors with two goals and two shots on goal, while Kim recorded Yale's lone assist and paced the Bulldogs with three total shots.

Hofstra will be in Maine for its next set of non-conference contests. The Pride will face Maine on Friday, September 9, before squaring off against Kent State in a neutral site game the following day. Hofstra returns home on September 16 at 3 p.m. to take on LIU.
