Hofstra And Monmouth Play To 1-1 Draw

West Long Branch, NJ - Dagny Run Petursdottir scored a second half goal to put Hofstra up but Monmouth scored the equalizer later in the half as the Pride and Hawks battled to a 1-1 draw Thursday night in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at Hesse Field on the Great Lawn.

Hofstra moved to 6-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in league play following the tie. Monmouth is 8-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in CAA action.

A scoreless first half saw Hofstra with the only shot on goal. The Pride finally broke through at the 62:13 mark as Krista Agostinello sent a perfect cross to an unmarked Petursdottir in front of the goal and the freshman midfielder headed it in for the 1-0 lead.

Nine minutes later, the Hawks got on the board as Kayla Reed sent Summer Reimet in and her shot glanced off a charging Hofstra keeper Skylar Kuzmich and kept rolling into the net to make it 1-1.

Both teams had chances down the stretch with Hofstra sending two shots on goal in the final 40 seconds. Monmouth keeper Cassandra Coster made both saves and finished with three on the night. Kuzmich had two stops for the Pride.

Hofstra is back in action Sunday at Northeastern with a 1 p.m. kick-off.

Notes:
-Hofstra is 3-0-2 all-time versus Monmouth.
-Petursdottir's goal was her second of the season and second in three games.
-The game was the first of four consecutive CAA road games for the Pride.
