Zhao Sets Scoring Record As Hofstra Leads Saratoga Invitational

Wilton, NY - Hofstra graduate student Cynthia Zhao shot a school record 68 (-4) and leads the Saratoga Invitational after one round at the McGregor Links Country Club. Hofstra leads the three-team field with a 302 (+14).

Zhao had 4 birdies and 14 pars during her record setting round, which bested the previous score of 69 set by Lauren Petty during the 2011-12 season. She leads teammate Savannah Weyrauch by four strokes in the 20-player field. Weyrauch shot an even-par 72 during her opening round to sit in second place.

Claire Galante is in fourth-place after 18 holes following a 76 (+4), while Mai Takahashi is in 11th at 86 (+14) and Maya Torpey is 14th at 91 (+19) to close out the Hofstra team entry.

The Pride also entered four individuals with Tori Bien shooting a 79 (+7) in her debut after two seasons lost to injury to sit in a fifth-place tie. Dominique Jimenez is tied for ninth after an 83 (+11) in her Hofstra debut. Hannah Morello shot a 92 (+20) and is in 15th-place, while Sadie Anderson shot a 94 (+22) and is 17th.

Hofstra leads second place Siena by 19 strokes going into Saturday's final round. The Saints shot a 321 (+33). St. Rose is in third place at 350 (+62).

Saturday's final round tees off at 8 a.m.
