As the
Hofstra University Department of Athletics celebrates the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title IX, we will honor, acknowledge, and inform our University community about some of the members of the Pride who helped make a difference at
Hofstra and paved the way for today's current student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and teams. Leading up to the June 23 anniversary of the passage of Title IX,
Hofstra Athletics will feature many individuals who played a role in enacting change or those whose experiences at
Hofstra were enhanced by the efforts of those who came before them.
Title IX is a federal civil rights law in the United States of America that was passed as part (Title IX) of the Education Amendments of 1972. It prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or other education program that receives funding from the federal government.
Please consider a gift to celebrate and support the 50th anniversary of Title IX! All proceeds from this campaign will go directly towards our Hofstra Athletics Pride Club account for women's athletics.Â
This week we feature Hofstra women's basketball alumna Tracey (Caffrey) Ant '87.
Tracey (Caffrey) Ant is a 1987 graduate of Hofstra and was a member of the women's basketball program for four years. During her three playing seasons, she competed in 80 games and tallied 93 points and 128 rebounds. After graduating with a degree in finance, Ant would go on to earn a master's degree in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Ant began her career in the insurance industry as a casualty underwriter with The Hartford in 1987. After six years, she took a position at Marsh, where she held roles of increasing responsibility during her 20-year tenure, ending her tenure as managing director and primary U.S. casualty placement leader for Marsh's global risk management and national brokerage clients. In December 2013, Ant returned to The Hartford as senior vice president and head of field sales execution, a position she still holds today.Â
In February 2019, thanks to a leadership gift from Ant and her husband, Todd, also a University alumnus, the Pride women's basketball locker room received a major renovation and was renamed The Tracey Caffrey Ant Women's Basketball Locker Room.
