Richmond, VA - Four members of the Hofstra men's lacrosse team received postseason Colonial Athletic Association honors, in an announcement by the league office Wednesday morning.

Defenseman Bryan McIntosh and goalie Mac Gates were named to the All-CAA Second Team, while midfielder Rory Jones and attackman Gerard Kane received CAA All-Rookie Team honors.

A graduate student from Jamison, Pennsylvania, McIntosh started every game for Hofstra at close defense and was one of the best takeaway defensemen in the country. The big defender finished the regular season tied for third in the country with 40 total caused turnovers and third in caused turnovers per game with 2.67. McIntosh also finished second on the team with 52 ground balls and scored one goal against Villanova.

A redshirt junior from San Francisco, California, Gates produced a fine season in goal. Gates made 180 saves in 15 games and 898 minutes between the pipes, the most by a Hofstra goalie in a single season since Matt Southard made 181 stops in 2003, and the redshirt junior finished the season ranked second in the CAA in Goals-Against Average (10.96) and third in saves per game (12.00) and save percentage (.523). Gates had double-digit saves in 12 games for the Pride, including a career-high 18 saves against Fairfield, and he posted a personal-best .733 save percentage against Manhattan. In addition, Gates collected 30 ground balls and caused two turnovers.

A redshirt freshman from Abington, Maryland, Jones played in all 15 games for Hofstra and finished the year with 20 goals and eight assists for 28 points, putting him third on the team for goals and points scored, and he ended the season on a streak of 13 consecutive games with at least one point scored. In addition to his 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers, Jones scored two game-winning goals for the Pride, both coming on the road against Delaware and Towson. Jones was named the CAA Rookie of the Week twice in 2022; his goal in the Pride's season opener against Merrimack earned him the honor on February 7, and his three-point outing in Hofstra's dramatic win over Towson won him the final CAA weekly honor of the regular season on May 2.

A sophomore from Suwanee, Georgia, Kane made an immediate impact for the Pride after transferring from Ohio State, leading the team with 38 points and 15 assists while finished second with 23 goals, along with 13 ground balls and two caused turnovers. He scored at least one point in 14 games, and he ended the season on a 11-game scoring streak. Kane picked up a pair of CAA Rookie of the Week honors this season; he received the honor on February 14 following a four-goal performance against Sacred Heart, and his six points on five assists and one goal against Providence earned him the award on March 28.
