Hempstead, NY - The 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship gets started on Friday morning with eight teams competing for the league title and the CAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Championship will be held at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on the campus of Elon University in Elon, North Carolina.

Hofstra, which is the No. 8 seed will open play Friday at 10 a.m. versus the top-seeded College of Charleston in one of four scheduled quarterfinal matches. #4 Elon takes on #5 UNCW at 10 a.m. as well followed by  #2 William & Mary versus #7 Towson and #3 Delaware against #6 Drexel at 1 p.m.

The Charleston/Hofstra winner takes on the Elon/UNCW winner in semifinal action at 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed at 2 p.m. by the William & Mary/Towson winner against the Delaware/Drexel winner. The championship match is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Hofstra enters the Championship with a record of 4-11. The Pride picked up a pair of wins in their final four matches and are led by freshman
Kaitlyn Ferguson's seven singles victories. Senior
Katherine Kachkarov sits atop the Hofstra singles lineup, while sophomore
Kayla Solagnier will compete at the No. 2 singles position.

Charleston (18-6) is the top seed in the tournament for the first time since joining the conference in 2014. The Cougars, who were 6-0 against CAA opponents this season, reached the tournament finals in 2014 and 2015, but are seeking their first league title. Charleston is led by junior Slade Coetzee, who went 18-3 at No. 1 singles, and junior Halli Trinkle, who was 19-3 at No. 2 singles. The duo combined for a 13-5 mark at No. 1 doubles.
