BB: Hofstra Rallies In Final Two Innings To Salvage Series Finale At UNCW

Wilmington, NC - Hofstra scored five times in the final two innings to rally from a 2-0 deficit to post a 5-2 win over UNCW in the finale of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series Sunday afternoon at Brooks Field. The win averted a series sweep by the Seahawks and snapped a three-game losing streak for the Pride.

Hofstra moved to 13-13 overall and 5-4 in the CAA on the season with the win. UNCW is 18-12 overall and 3-3 in league action.

Jake Liberatore started the eighth with a single, his second hit of the game. Following a fly out and a strikeout, UNCW pitcher Ethan Chenault walked three consecutive batters to force in the first run of the game for the Pride. That ended Chenault's day as Cole Benton came on to pitch and on an 0-2 count got Steve Harrington to hit a comebacker. However, Benton sailed the throw for an error and three runs scored to put Hofstra on top, 4-2. The Pride would add an insurance run in the ninth as Liberatore walked, stole second and came in on an RBI single from Zack Bailey, who had entered the game as a defensive replacement.

Brad Camarda (5-0) remained undefeated after allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. Michael O'Hanlon pitched the final two innings for his third save of the season.

Matt Suggs drove in both UNCW runs, one with an infield single in the first and the second with a solo home run in the fourth. Chenault (1-4) took the loss after getting tagged for four runs (one earned) on a hit and three walks in 2/3 of an inning.

Hofstra returns to action Tuesday when it hosts St. John's at 3 p.m.

Notes:
-Camarda recorded his 10th career victory
-Bailey's RBI was his first in a Hofstra uniform
-Liberatore's two-hit game was his seventh of the season.
