Princeton, NJ - Facing a team ranked No. 34 in the latest ITA Rankings, the Hofstra men's tennis team battled in a 5-2 loss to Princeton Saturday evening at Jadwin Gymnasium. Hofstra slipped to 3-3 with the loss, while the Tigers improved to 10-5 on the season.

The Tigers won both completed doubles flights to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Bill Duo and Karl Poling defeated Bo Cautaerts and Ostap Kovalenko, 6-3, at No. 1, while Ben Smith and Ryan Seggerman picked up a 6-1 win over Shawn Jackson and Julien Wolfe at No. 2.

After dropping the first three singles flights, Matthew Garcia picked up Hofstra's first victory of the match by defeating Duo at the No. 4 flight in a hard-fought three-set affair. Garcia won the first set, 7-5, before dropping a 4-6 decision in set two. In the third set tiebreak, Garcia came out on top 10-7. Josh Reynolds also had a victory for Hofstra, winning at No 6 over Matthew Bosancic by scores of 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3).

Hofstra will return to action on March 11 at Delaware in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup.
