Savannah Weyrauch shot a final round 78 (+6) to earn individual medalist honors and Hofstra claimed the top seven spots on the leaderboard as play concluded at The Battle at the Beech, hosted by Dominican College at White Beeches Golf and Country Club Tuesday afternoon. The Pride was the only school to have a full team to compete, so there was no team champion crowned.
Weyrauch, who shot a two-round 161 (+17), picked up her first career victory in the 16-player event. The Hofstra sophomore led the field with six birdies as well as par 3 (3.17), par 4 (4.67), and par 5 (5.00) scoring. Teammate
Claire Galante was the runner-up at 165 (+21) following a final round 80 (+8). Galante was second in the field with 15 pars over her 36 holes.
Cynthia Zhao finished third at 166 (+22) after shooting an 80 (+8) during her final round. Zhao also had 15 scores of par in the tournament.
Mai Takahashi was fourth at 168 (+24) and had a final round 85 (+13). The Hofstra freshman had 10 pars and four birdies in the tourney.
Cameron Waltman and
Emmah Federman tied for fifth at 169 (+25). Waltman, the first round leader at 81, shot a final round 88 (+16). She finished her two rounds with 10 pars and three birdies. Federman had a final round 84 (+12) and led all players with 16 pars.
Maya Torpey tied for seventh at 173 (+29) and had a final round 84 (+12). Torpey had 13 pars and two birdies over her 36 holes.
Hannah Morello finished 16
th at 214. Â
The other competing schools in the tournament were Dominican, Post University, and American International.
Hofstra returns to action March 28-29 at the William & Mary/Kingsmill Invitational in Williamsburg, Virginia.
