Jaylen Hines scored 12 points and added seven rebounds for Hofstra but top-seeded Drexel saw three players score in double-figures as the Dragons posted a 60-39 victory over the eighth-seeded Pride in the Colonial Athletic Association Quarterfinals at the John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center Friday afternoon.
Hofstra sees its season end with an 8-20 overall record, while Drexel, the defending CAA Champions, advances to the semifinals with a 25-4 record.
Hines led Hofstra in scoring for the 15th time this season and in rebounding for the 18th as she closed out her Hofstra career.
Selma Markisic added nine points for the Pride, while
Rosi Nicholson tied Hines for team-high honors with seven rebounds.
Tied at two in the first quarter, Drexel went on a 9-0 run over a 2:43 span to open an 11-2 lead with 3:40 to go on a second-chance layup from Tessa Brugler. The Dragons lead grew to 12, 16-4, with 1:11 to play before the Pride scored the final four points on baskets from
Sorelle Ineza and Markisic to trail by eight, 16-8, after the opening 10 minutes.
Maniya Custis pulled Hofstra within six with a jumper to start the second quarter, before Drexel went on an 8-0 run to take a 24-10 lead with 5:37 to go. Ineza made it a 10-point game with 1:59 to play in the half but the Dragons scored the final two baskets to go into the locker room with a 30-16 lead.
Trailing by 15, 35-20, with 7:51 to play in the third quarter, the Pride got back-to-back three-pointers from Markisic and Nicholson to make it a nine-point game, 35-26, with 6:34 to go. The Dragons answered with seven consecutive points to go back up by 16. The Pride would not get closer than 14 the rest of the quarter and trailed 46-32 at the end of 30 minutes of play.
The fourth quarter saw the Dragons pull away. Hofstra cut its deficit to 13, 50-37, with 6:02 to play on a fast break layup from Markisic. However, Drexel outscored the Pride, 10-2, the rest of the way to earn a spot in the CAA Semifinals.
Drexel's Keishana Washington led all scorers with 21 points. Hannah Nihill posted 11 points, while Brugler had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

- Hines finishes her career with 1,124 points and 776 rebounds. Her point total is 20th in program history while her rebounds are tied for eighth all-time at Hofstra with Hilarie Cranmer.
- Hofstra is 31-47 all-time versus Drexel.
