WBB: Hofstra Continues Home Stretch With Friday Night Matchup vs. Towson

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra women's basketball team returns to the court on Friday evening for a 7 p.m. meeting with the Towson Tigers at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. It is the second of three-straight home contests for the Pride.
 
The game will be streamed live on FloHoops.com. In addition, WRHU will provide live audio on the Hofstra Alternative Web Channel (HAWC). Hofstra (6-12, 3-11 CAA) is entering the contest coming off of one of its best performances of the season against Charleston on Wednesday evening. For the first time this season, Hofstra saw five players reach double figures, led by Jaylen Hines who racked up 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Jahsyni Knight had one of her top games of the season and recorded a near triple-double with 16 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Jaala Henry had 12 points and tied for a team-high seven rebounds, Selma Markisic had 12 points as well, and Rosi Nicholson added 10 points and a team-high five steals. As a team, Hofstra scored a season-high 73 points and shot a season-best 53-percent from the field.
 
Hines increased her scoring average to 13.2 points per game with the performance. She also hauls down an average of 7.5 rebounds per game which leads the team. Knight also increased her scoring average to 8.1 and has recorded seven or more assists in two of her last three games, helping her assist average to 3.2 per game. Nicholson has been unstoppable defensively as of late as well and now has 53 steals, giving her an average of 2.52 per game which ranks third in the Colonial Athletic Association.
 
Towson (20-5, 11-3 CAA) is also coming off of a victory over Charleston on Sunday evening where the Tigers won that contest at SECU Arena, 84-57. Aleah Nelson netted a team-high 26 points while Allie Kubek finished with 19 points and tied for a team-high 12 rebounds. Towson has won three-straight games and eight of the last nine. On the season, Nelson averages a team-high 17.0 points per game while Anissa Rivera leads on the glass, averaging 7.1 rebounds per contest. Nelson also adds 5.4 assists per game for the Tigers.  
 
Hofstra is 40-36 all-time against Towson. When the teams met earlier this season, Towson won at SECU Arena, 86-45. Markisic led Hofstra with 13 points, all of which she scored during the fourth quarter, while Hines followed with eight points. Knight and Nicholson tallied seven points each while Knight had six rebounds and Nicholson had five rebounds and four steals. Zyheima Swint led on the boards with seven rebounds.
