Bethlehem, PA - Hofstra started strong by sweeping the doubles point, but Lehigh rallied in singles play as the Pride fell to the Mountain Hawks, 5-2, at the Lewis Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
Hofstra slipped to 2-2 on the season, while Lehigh evened its record at 2-2.
Bo Cautaerts and
Ostap Kovalenko opened the match with a 6-2 win at the No. 1 doubles flight over Zack Elliott and Marc Blekhman.
Matthew Garcia and
Vincent Turina followed with a 6-3 win over Matt Kleiman and Jeremy Learner at No. 3 to clinch the point for the Pride.
Julien Wolfe and
Shawn Jackson completed the sweep with a 6-3 win over Gary Fishkin and Steven Nazaroff at No. 2.
Lehigh tied the score at one with a win at No 4 singles by Kleiman over Garcia (6-3, 6-2) before Kovalenko put the Pride back on top, 2-1, with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Blekhman at No. 2 singles. That would be Hofstra's lone win at singles as the Mountain Hawks won the remaining four flights to take the win.
Hofstra returns to action Thursday, February 24 at Rider. Match time is 2 p.m.
