Oceanside, NY - Shawn Jackson and Vincent Turina picked up singles wins in Hofstra's 5-2 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson Thursday afternoon at Point Set Indoor.

Jackson, playing at No. 4, dropped the first set (6-1) to the Knights' Thomas Linley. But the Pride senior rebounded for a 6-1 win in set two and a 10-5 win in the third set tiebreaker to claim the victory. Turina also won in three sets at the No. 5 flight. FDU's Arjun Sriram won the first set, 6-4, before Turina posted a 7-5 win in set two and a 10-7 win in the third.

Those were the only two matches that Hofstra won as Fairleigh Dickinson won the two completed doubles matches to earn that point and then took four of the six singles flights.

Hofstra slipped to 1-1 on the season with the win while the Knights earned their first victory of the season to move to 1-2.

Hofstra returns to action Friday, February 18 against LIU at Sportime in Bethpage. Match time is 11 a.m.
