Hofstra Rekindles Long Island Rivalry Against Stony Brook

Hempstead, NY – Only 14 hours after the calendar flips to 2023, the Hofstra women's basketball team will host its first Colonial Athletic Association contest of the season against Stony Brook in the 13th meeting of the Long Island Rivalry.
 
Tip-off between the Pride and the Seawolves is set for 2 p.m. from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

Hofstra dropped its first CAA game of the season, 77-65, to Delaware on December 30, putting the Pride's record at 6-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference. Sorelle Ineza scored a career-high 21 points against the Fightin' Blue Hens, while Zyheima Swint pulled down a team-best eight rebounds.
 
Stony Brook carries a 7-5 overall record and a 1-0 mark in the CAA into Sunday's meeting following an 89-61 win over William & Mary. Picked to finish third in the CAA Preseason Poll, the Seawolves are led by Anastasia Warren with 16.2 points per game, one of four players averaging double-digit points per contest.
 
Hofstra leads Stony Brook, 7-5, in the Long Island Rivalry series. The Seawolves have won the last four meetings against the Pride, including last season's 63-52 result on December 14 in Stony Brook.
