New Rochelle, NY – On a crisp Fall evening from the Hynes Athletic Center, the Hofstra women's basketball team suffered a 62-46 defeat to Iona. Hofstra is now 2-4 overall following Wednesday night's defeat.

Brandy Thomas finished in double figures for the second consecutive game, scoring 13 points against the Gales on 6-9 shooting from the floor to pair with her eight rebounds. Junior
Zyheima Swint posted eight points and seven rebounds, and freshman
Emma Von Essen recorded a team-best four assists.
Iona (3-3) led from the opening whistle over the Pride, leading 14-2 before sophomore
Zaniyyah Ross-Barnes scored Hofstra's first field goal on a step-back jumper at 4:22 of the first quarter. The Gaels blitzed the Pride to a 22-8 scoreline after the first quarter. Both teams stepped up their defense in the second quarter, with a combined 13 points going up on the board in the quarter before the halftime buzzer blared, with Iona leading Hofstra 29-14.
Thomas scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half as the Pride attempted to claw back into the game with a 16-point third quarter, cutting the Iona lead to 18 following a late three-pointer from Thomas with 21 seconds left, before Iona put their lead back to 20 with a buzzer-beater jumper to end the quarter. The Pride outscored Iona 16-12 in the fourth quarter,
Juana Camilion led Iona with 18 points followed by Kate Mager's 17 points.
