Hofstra Welcomes North Carolina Central for Home Opener

Hempstead, NY – After a pair of road games to open the 2022-23 season, the Hofstra women's basketball team looks to host its first contest from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Friday, November 18, against visiting North Carolina Central.

Tip-off on Friday is set for 2 p.m.

The game will be streamed live on FloHoops, and WRHU (88.7 FM) will provide an audio-only broadcast of Friday's game. The links to both broadcasts, as well as the live statistics link, can be found on this page and the women's basketball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

The Pride enters Friday's home contest at 0-2 following a 62-46 defeat to Cleveland State on Saturday. Graduate student Brandy Thomas led Hofstra with nine points against the Vikings, while graduate student Rosi Nicholson and sophomore Zaniyyah Ross-Barnes pitched in with eight points each. Freshman Alarice Gooden pulled down a team-leading seven rebounds against Cleveland State, and freshman Emma Von Essen dished out three assists.

North Carolina Central is 1-2 on the year following a win over Johnson C. Smith and losses to FIU and Campbell. Leading the Eagles in scoring on the season is freshman Jerni Kiaku with 38 points through three games, followed by Morgan Callahan with 28 points and Kimeira Burks with 26 points. North Carolina Central will take on Rutgers on Wednesday (Nov. 16) in New Jersey before making the trip to Hempstead for Friday's game.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Hofstra and North Carolina Central.
