Hempstead, NY – The No. 25 Hofstra women's soccer team scored three goals, including two difference-making tallies in the second half, to down the University of Pennsylvania Quakers by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. Hofstra improved to 5-1 overall while dealing Penn its first loss of the season (2-1-1).
Hofstra continued its offensive dominance, posting a 17-7 advantage in shot opportunities, including a 10-3 edge in shots on goal.

Ellen Halseth, and senior
Miri Taylor. Fifth year forward
Lucy Shepherd tallied Hofstra's lone assist.
After several close very chances in the first 20 minutes of play, Shepherd drove down the right side and floated a cross inside the box, finding the head of Brown who perfectly placed her shot inside the top-left corner during the 26th minute. The Quakers held Hofstra without another chance for the remainder of the half before compiling four chances, including a goal by Madison Liebman in the 44th minute, leveling the match just before halftime.
Despite the deflating goal, Hofstra remained resilient into the start of the half before Halseth blazed past three defenders and tallied the go-ahead goal just over 10 minutes into the second half. Taylor put the match away with a beautiful volley in the 86th minute of action.

Skylar Kuzmich made two saves to help earn her fifth win of the season in between the iron.
Hofstra continues its stretch of non-conference matchups this Friday, September 10 as the Pride hosts Bucknell at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m., and the match will be streamed live on FloFC.
