Hempstead, NY - Julianne Kopec and Tali Popinko had goals and goalkeeper Megan Ragusa tallied four saves as Temple picked up a 2-0 victory over Hofstra Friday afternoon at Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium.
The Owls remained perfect on the season, moving to 3-0 on the year. Hofstra slipped to 1-2 on the young season.
Kopec opened the scoring 7:16 into the first quarter as she converted a pass from Tess Muller to put the Owls on the board with her third goal of the season. That would be the only shot of the first half for Temple. However, the Pride could not capitalize on four shots in the opening 30 minutes with Ragusa picking up a pair of saves.
Temple doubled its advantage at the 48:33 mark, scoring off a penalty corner as Popinko deflected a shot from Kerrie Lorenz up and over the shoulder of Hofstra goalkeeper
Merlijn van der Vegt. The goal was the first of the season for Popinko.
Hofstra received two saves from van der Vegt. Â
Lieke Gorsse had three shots to pace the Pride, with all of them on goal.
The Pride returns to action Sunday when they host Davidson at 11 a.m.
