Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra volleyball team concluded play at the Maryland Invite with a three-set loss to the host Terrapins on Saturday evening.
The loss, which dropped the Pride's record to 1-2 this season, came by set scores of 18-25, 15-25, and 19-25. Maryland continued its undefeated start to the season and is now 3-0.
Freshman
Beatriz Alves posted 21 assists for the Pride, while fellow freshman
Chiara Cucco picked up 12 digs.
Maryland got 15 kills from Sam Csire.
Hofstra is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to St. Francis Brooklyn for a 6 p.m. match.
NOTES
- Hofstra is now 4-7 all-time against Maryland. Today marked the first meeting since 2015.
- Today's match was Hofstra's 64th all-time against the current members of the Big Ten Conference. It is the program's first since facing #8 Penn State in the 2019 season opener on August 30, 2019.
- Cucco earned a spot on the all-tournament squad for Hofstra.
