Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University introduced its new head men's basketball coach, Speedy Claxton, today during an 11:30 a.m. press conference. Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. and Coach Claxton delivered remarks during the event.

Claxton, a 2000 graduate of Hofstra, is the 13th head coach in Hofstra men's basketball history. He was a two-time All-American and America East Player of the Year during his playing career at the University, and helped Hofstra to an America East Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2000. Claxton has been a member of the men's basketball coaching staff since 2013.
