Box Score Newark, NJ - Hofstra won five singles matches to rally for a 5-2 victory over NJIT at Branch Brook Park Wednesday afternoon. Hofstra snapped a two match losing skid with the victory and improved to 3-2 on the season.

The Highlanders (6-3) took the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Giacomo Pezzoli and Yusuke Nishitani defeated Ashwin Kanetkar and Ammar Fekry at No. 3, 6-4, before NJIT won the next two flights to clinch the point.

Hofstra responded by winning the first four completed singles flights to clinch the match. Reigning CAA Player of the Week Alvaro Arce Lopez-Sanchez picked up a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 2 over Josh Smith. Pezzoli followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 over Samuel Townes. Nishitani posted a 6-2, 6-4 win against Kanetkar at No. 5 and Jonathan Mahrt Guyou provided the clincher with a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 3 over Amine El Kholti. After Fekry picked up a win for NJIT at No. 6, Shawn Jackson closed out the match with a win over Abdullah Fouad at No. 1, 6-0, 3-6, 7-5.

Hofstra will be back in action Sunday April 18 at La Salle.
