Rob Weissheier and
Brian Goulard each had two RBIs, and
Nick Marrero added an RBI in Hofstra's 11-5 loss at Delaware in the series finale Bob Hannah Stadium Sunday afternoon. Hofstra dropped to 10-12 overall and 1-6 in the CAA with the loss. Delaware is 8-10 overall and 4-4 in league play.
The Pride jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as
Ryan Morash,
Santino Rosso, and
Anthony D'Onofrio drew consecutive walks and Weissheier, the Hofstra cleanup hitter, lifted a sacrifice fly to right to score Morash. Goulard followed with a two-run double down the right field line that made it 3-0.
The Blue Hens responded with a four-run bottom of the first. Aiden Riley and Joseph Carpenter hit back-to-back solo home runs and Delaware took advantage of two errors in the inning to score twice more. Delaware would score three more runs in the third with Riley driving in two with a double. The Blue Hens added two more runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the seventh to close out their scoring.
The Pride got a single from Rosso, a double from D'Onofrio, and a sacrifice fly from Weissheier to push a run across in the eighth and then added a run in the ninth as
Austin Hauck singled with two outs and came in on a double from Marrero.
Steven Boscia (0-1) took the loss for Hofstra after allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits in 2 innings. Mike Biasiello (1-1) earned the win in relief for Delaware, allowing one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts over 7 1/3 innings.
Riley drove in four runs on the day for Delaware.
Hofstra will return to action Friday at home against Towson. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.

-Hofstra's six errors were the most since another six-error game at William & Mary on May 4, 2013.
