Lawrenceville, NJ -
Mandisa Walle won her singles match and was victorious in doubles, but Hofstra dropped a 5-2 decision at Rider Monday afternoon. Hofstra slipped to 0-1 with the loss while Rider moved to 1-1.
Walle had a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Alli Garofoli at No. 2 singles to give the Pride their lone singles point. Rider won the three other contested singles flights as the Pride defaulted at fifth and sixth singles due to having just four healthy players available.
Hofstra did win the doubles point as Walle and
Isabella Tonuzi earned a 6-4 victory at No. 1 over Cyd Melendez and Leila Koster, and
Simran Desai and Kayla Solangier had a 6-2 victory at No. 2 over Sarah Cheverie and Angelica Garcia.
Hofstra will be back in action Tuesday afternoon at Loyola of Maryland.
