ELON, N.C. – The Hofstra University women's basketball team saw its 2020-21 season come to a close on Friday, March 12 as the Pride were unable to overcome top-seeded University of Delaware in the Colonial Athletic Association semifinals, falling by a 60-39 final.

JaKayla Brown led Hofstra with 10 points while junior
Rosi Nicholson added seven points for Hofstra. Freshman
Zyheima Swint grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Hofstra.
The Pride got out to a strong start, taking a 15-14 lead with under two minutes remaining in the opening stanza. Delaware tallied the final five points of the period, however, taking a 19-15 lead that they did not relinquish. The second quarter was low-scoring for both sides, but the Blue Hens extended their lead to 11 points at halftime, 32-21.
Delaware's defense shut down Hofstra out of the locker room, limiting the Pride to just three points during the third quarter on 2-of-16 shooting. Hofstra could not recover from there, as Delaware held on for the win to advance to the CAA championship game on Saturday.
NOTES:
-Hofstra finishes the season with an 8-12 overall record. The Pride more than doubled its win total from last season and earned five conference wins.
-Hofstra advanced to the CAA Semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons.

JaKayla Brown finished as Hofstra's leading scorer during the 2020-21 season with 16.2 points per game. She also scored 17.3 points per game during conference action.
