Ana Martinovic had a team-high 12 kills for Hofstra in a three-set loss to Elon on Friday evening at the Schar Center.
Set scores were 25-22, 25-17, and 25-14.
The loss drops Hofstra's record to 13-11 overall and 7-6 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Elon improved to 15-10 and 10-5 in the conference.
The first set was the closest in the contest with Elon pulling away late for the three-point victory.
That would set up the Phoenix for the second and third sets as they captured both to earn the three-set win.
Freshman
Florencia Wolkowyski added eight kills for Hofstra, while freshman
Beatriz Alves tallied 28 assists and freshman
Chiara Cucco notched 15 digs.
Leah Daniel led Elon with 13 kills and Haylie Clark had 26 assists and 10 digs.
Hofstra and Elon will meet on Saturday at 7 p.m. to conclude the weekend series. The match will air on FloVolleyball.
NOTES
- Hofstra leads the all-time series with Elon, 10-3.
- It was the third straight match in double figure kills for Martinovic.
- It was the fourth straight match in double figure digs for Cucco.
