11/10/2021 1:35:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - With rain in the forecast yet again, the Hofstra women's cross country team makes its return to The Bay State for the 2021 NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championship on Friday, November 12, at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

The women's 6K race will begin at 11 a.m. UMass Lowell, the host institution for the men's and women's regional championships, will provide live timing and results through Millennium Running, with a link available on this page and on the women's cross country schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra is expected to send seven runners to Boston on Friday, Head Coach Vincent Giambanco announced. Competing for the Pride will be Sydney Brady, Lauren Dietrich, Shirley Guenfoud, Sophia Masciarelli, Jordyn McDonnell, Jackalynn Orellana, and Kayla Stadeker.

The women last ran on October 30 at the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Championship, also held at Franklin Park, and Masciarelli and McDonnell placed 22nd and 23rd, respectively, in the rain-soaked conference championship race. Masciarelli crossed the finish line with a time of 22:49.5, and McDonnell finished her race shortly after Masciarelli with a time of 22:56.0. Orellana (72nd, 28:54.4), Guenfoud (73rd, 31:22.0), and Brady (74th, 31:28.6) also competed for Hofstra in the race. The women's team finished with 225 points, placing them eighth in the team standings.

The top two teams and the top four runners not attached to the qualified teams are automatically selected to compete at the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Championship in Tallahassee, Florida. The at-large selection process for individuals is based on finishing inside the top 25 of a regional championship, while the selection process for teams is based on a review of regular-season competition and the team's finish at the regional championship.

The Pride last ran in a regional championship race in 2019, where McDonnell set a program record in a 6K race when she crossed the finish line in a time of 21:08.6, placing her 82nd among 268 runners from Buffalo, New York.
