JaKayla Brown scored 13 points to lead the Pride, but UAlbany broke open the game in the second quarter on its way to a 70-41 victory over Hofstra Wednesday night in the season opener for both teams at the SEFCU Arena.
Brown also added four assists and two steals.
Jaylen Hines added 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
Jaala Henry had four points and three swipes, while
Sorelle Ineza,
Vanerlie Valcourt, and
Zyheima Swint also chipped in with four points each.
The Great Danes led by two, 20-18, after one quarter but pulled away in the second, outscoring the Pride, 19-4, to take a 39-22 lead into halftime. UAlbany used a 7-0 run to start the quarter to go up by nine, 27-18, and would close the period with a 10-0 spurt to go up by 17.
UAlbany would extend the lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Pride, 14-9, to lead 53-31 after 30 minutes. The fourth quarter saw Albany go up by as many as 31 before a late jumper cut the final margin to 29 points. Â
The Great Danes' Ellen Hahne led all scorers with 17 points. Lucia Decortes had a game-high seven rebounds.

-Hofstra is now 6-1 all-time against UAlbany.
-The loss ended a six-game opening night winning streak for the Pride.
