Philadelphia, Pa. – The 25th-ranked Hofstra University women's soccer team moved back into the win column on Thursday evening as the Pride recorded its 10th clean sheet with a 2-0 decision over the Drexel University Dragons.
Hofstra improves to 13-2-1 overall and picks up three crucial points in the Colonial Athletic Association standings, now with a 5-1-1 record in league play to move back into first place. Drexel drops to 5-6-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the league.
The Pride tallied both goals in the first half, the first just 15 minutes into the match when
Miri Taylor stormed up the left side and delivered ball to a wide-open
Lucy Shepherd who put Drexel goalkeeper, Miyuki Schoyen off-balance before finishing to her left side. The assist was the 28th of Taylor's career, moving her to first all-time in Hofstra history in assists. Just after 15 minutes went by, sophomore

Lucy Porter flicked in a shot to the far right post.
Hofstra was very strong defensively the remainder of the match as the Pride limited the Dragons to just two opportunities in the second half. The Pride had several close chances as well, but eventually settled for the 2-0 decision.
Junior goalkeeper
Skylar Kuzmich recorded six saves to earn her ninth individual clean sheet, which is now tied for the highest amount of shutouts in the nation.
Hofstra will play its final regular season road match of the season on Sunday, October 24 when it travels to Elon University for a meeting with the Phoenix. Kickoff at Rhodes Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
