The Pride jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead before the Tigers went on a 9-2 run to make it a one-point game early in the half. The Tigers soon took a two-point advantage, but Hofstra retook the lead after a three-pointer from Cramer at 13:05. Hofstra's lead grew to as large as six points in the first half, but they could never shake the Tigers as the visitors made shot after shot to keep pace with the Pride. Towson ended the half with seven straight points, including a last-second three pointer to give the Tigers a 35-32 advantage going into the halftime break.
A 9-2 run gave Hofstra a 41-37 lead to start the second half, but Towson kept the score close as they matched Hofstra shot-for-shot. The hosts pulled away midway through the half thanks to 16 unanswered points for a 58-42 lead at 10:46 of the half. Towson broke the run at 9:48, but Hofstra continued to pour on the pressure from both ends of the court.
Towson made a late run at Hofstra's lead, whittling it down to as little as seven points with five minutes to go from a seven-point run, but Hofstra withstood the comeback attempt to pick up its fourth CAA win of the season. A pair of free throws from Ray, coupled with a big three-pointer from Burgess, gave Hofstra an 11-point cushion with 2:22 left in the game. Four consecutive points by Ray and Coburn sealed the win for Hofstra.
Zane Martin led Towson with 15 points and four assists, while Jason Gibson added 12 points and Nicolas Timberlake posted 10 points for the Tigers.
The Pride will face off against Towson again on Sunday at 2 p.m.
