Hempstead, NY - It was another banner year for the Hofstra men's basketball program and several players earned postseason honors from the league, it was announced today by the Colonial Athletic Association.

Senior Desure Buie captured a trio of awards as he was named to the All-CAA First Team and the CAA All-Defensive Team, and earned the prestigious Dean Ehlers Leadership Award as well. Senior Eli Pemberton garnered All-CAA Second Team honors, while sophomore Isaac Kante was named to the All-CAA Third Team. Junior Tareq Coburn picked up the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

Voting for the postseason awards is conducted by the league's head coaches, media relations directors and members of the media from the conference's footprint.

Buie is Hofstra's first-ever Dean Ehlers Leadership Award recipient. The Ehlers Award is presented annually to a men's and women's basketball student-athlete who "embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity, and sportsmanship in conjunction with his academic and athletic achievement." It's named after former James Madison athletic director Dean Ehlers, who was a founding member of the conference and served as its first president.

Buie picks up first team honors for the first time in his career after a spectacular regular season in which he posted 18.5 points, 5.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game. A third team honoree a year ago, Buie increased his scoring average by nearly eight points per game this season and leads the Pride in scoring, assists, and steals. He ranks seventh in the CAA in scoring, first in assists, and second in steals. A four-time CAA Player of the Week Award winner this year, he ranks 24th nationally in assists per game. Buie has 1,266 career points, 532 career assists, and 199 career steals. He ranks 20th in program history in scoring, fourth in assists, and sixth in steals. It is the second consecutive year on the CAA All-Defensive Team for Buie.

A second team All-CAA selection for the second consecutive year, Pemberton had another outstanding campaign during the regular season. Pemberton is second on the team in scoring this year with 17.3 points per game, while also contributing 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per outing. He ranks eighth in the league in scoring. Pemberton, the CAA Player of the Week on December 23, has career totals of 1,920 points, 579 rebounds, 268 assists, and 113 steals. He ranks ninth all-time in program history in scoring and fourth all-time with 206 three-pointers.

Kante had a stellar first year in a Hofstra uniform as he averaged 11.5 points and 7.4 rebounds, while shooting 66.4% from the field in earning third team accolades. Kante ranks third on the team in scoring and first in rebounding, while also shooting a team and league-best 66.4% from the field this season.

Coburn was named the league's scholar-athlete of the year as he currently carries a 3.65 grade point average as a community health major. On the court, he is averaging 11 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He is second on the team in three-pointers with 64.
