MBB: Hofstra To Face Northeastern In CAA Championship Game

Washington, DC - The Hofstra men's basketball team will face Northeastern on Tuesday in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Game. 

Tip-off from the Entertainment and Sports Arena is slated for 7 p.m. 

The game will air nationally on the CBS Sports Network and there will also be a Pride Productions live audio broadcast (via WRHU) of the contest. Links can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. 

Hofstra is 25-8 on the year and earned a trip to the title game with a 75-61 win over Delaware in the semifinals. Senior Eli Pemberton posted a game-high 24 points, while junior Tareq Coburn added a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. 

Northeastern is 17-15 after a 68-60 win over Elon in their semifinal contest. Jordan Roland had 21 points, while Bolden Brace added 16 points and seven rebounds. 

Hofstra is making its fourth appearance in the CAA Championship Game since joining the league in 2001-02. The Pride will be looking for its ninth-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and fifth at the NCAA Division I level. Hofstra last qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2000-01. 

The Pride has advanced to the conference championship game all six times it has been the #1 seed in the conference - including the East Coast Conference, America East Conference, and the Colonial Athletic Association. The Pride is the ninth straight #1 seed to reach the championship game. Hofstra is making its 11th all-time championship game appearance and the Pride is 5-5 all-time in those games. 

Hofstra won both regular season meetings against Northeastern by a combined six points as the Pride won in Boston, 74-72, on January 9 and then again, 75-71, on February 8 in Hempstead. The Pride leads the all-time series, 25-23. Hofstra is 12-3 all-time when facing in the conference tournament a team it swept during the regular season.
