Newport, RI - Hofstra picked up the doubles point and one singles victory as the Pride fell to Rhode Island, 5-2, Saturday at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Hofstra fell to 3-5 with the loss while Rhode Island improved to 2-3 with the win.
The Pride earned the doubles point with a pair of 7-6 (5) victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
Mandisa Walle and
Ronia Dolabany defeated Tiara Higuchi and Mihaela Codreanu at the second flight, and
Odessa Stork and
Katherine Kachkarov downed Paulina Loredo and Sydney Chratian at the third flight.
However Rhode Island won five of the six singles flights to claim the match. Kachkarov was the Pride's lone singles victor, winning 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 over Higuchi.
Hofstra returns to action Sunday at Bryant.
